An introduction to and analysis of Pauline and General Epistles, as well as the Book of Revelation with emphasis on their central teachings, dominant themes and primary message for both ancient recipients and modern readers.
BN222CA GOSPEL STUDIES: JESUS, MIRACLES AND THE MODERN CHRUCH
A study of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) with emphasis on the significance of the signs and wonders performed by Jesus and their relevance to both the early and later disciples/followers of Christ. This study will also examine the supernatural dimension of the life and ministry of the church in both ancient and contemporary settings.
BN366BA PAULINE EPISTLES: CORINTHIAN CORRESPONDENCE
An in-depth study of the letters of Paul to the Corinthians with emphasis on analysis of critical issues, exposition of theological themes and contemporary application of ancient practical matters of Christian faith, life and ministry which are embedded in these two epistles.

A continuation of BO111AA, covering the poetic and prophetic books of the Old Testament.
Theological Studies
BT392BA CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES: CHRIST AND SALVATION
Christology and Soteriology. An in-depth theological study of these doctrines with special attention given to the problems, biblical teaching, historical development and contemporary relevance. Creeds, documents, and other primary sources will be utilized. Prerequisite: Introduction to Theology or permission of instructor.
BT432AA THEOLOGY SEMINAR
This is an advanced theology seminar course, which allows students to focus on a specific theological issue/topic or a prominent theologian. Specific issues, topics or theologians will be selected and studied each time this course is offered. Prerequisites: Introduction to Theology, and two other theology electives.

GH211AA INTRODUCTION TO CHURCH HISTORY
An introduction to the main themes, personalities and events of the Christian Church. Theological and spiritual developments from the Early Church through the Middle Ages and Reformation to the Church of today will be discussed. The Church’s role in society and politics will be highlighted.
GH231AA CHRISTIAN WORSHIP THROUGH THE CENTURIES
An overview of the history of Christian worship, from the early Church to modern times, comprising significant theological developments about the person, nature, and work of the triune God, as well as the Lord's Table, baptism, the Christian calendar, the use of psalms, hymns, and other music, as expressed in diverse worship traditions.
GH250AA HISTORY OF MISSIONS
An overview of the expansion of Christianity from its beginning to its current status as a global faith. Consideration will be given to mission paradigms across the centuries and key figures in mission history.
GK211AA SCIENCE AND CHRISTIANITY
An introductory survey of the ways in which science and Christianity relate philosophically and theologically, over history and present time. Specific topics include scientific law and miracles, the human sciences and the soul, cosmology and the creation of the universe, evolution and the creation of life. The controversy over science, faith and public education will also be examined.
GL231AA ORAL COMMUNICATION
An examination of the principles and dynamics of communication and an exposure to a variety of oral communication styles. Students will be involved in the effective design, delivery, and critical evaluation of speeches in various settings. Many opportunities to practice the skills taught. Prerequisite: Introduction to Communication.
GL242AA NEW TESTAMENT GREEK II
The second half of an introductory course to the study of New Testament Greek, continuing to focus on building vocabulary and the comprehension of basic Greek grammar. The course is designed to prepare students for translation and exegesis of the New Testament, thereby equipping them to better interpret and proclaim God’s word. As a bonus, the study of ancient Greek will increase students’ understanding of the English language.
Prerequisite: New Testament Greek I.
GP385AA WORLD VIEW STUDIES SEMINAR
An advanced seminar course that integrates biblical, theological, and general studies. This course will examine the philosophical bases for various world views and assist students in developing and articulating a comprehensive biblical world view.
GR311AA WORLD RELIGIONS
A survey study of the history, major beliefs, practices, and rituals of the major non Christian religions: Traditional Tribal Religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Shinto. Critical reflection on a Christian response.
GS211BA SOCIAL ISSUES
Topics in sociology are addressed, including culture, socialization, deviant behaviour, population, social stratification, race relations, urbanization, poverty, and ecology. Prerequisite: Sociology or permission of instructor.
GS212AA GROUP DYNAMICS
An examination of the theory, principles, and techniques for working with small groups in a variety of contexts. Exercises in problem solving, communication, conflict, leadership, role playing, and other techniques. Attention to social climate, membership and leadership functions, value conflicts, and other variables as they relate to their effect on the group process and individual behaviour.
Professional Studies: Christian Ministries
CM111AA SPIRITUAL FORMATION
Emphasizing personal and corporate spiritual growth, this course, through selected readings and directed spiritual exercises, introduces the classic spiritual disciplines. Students are guided in reading Scripture for personal application, being attentive in prayer, and co-operating with the Holy Spirit in the process of sanctification. A specially focused retreat concludes the course.
CM222AA COUNSELLING SKILLS
An introduction to the field of counselling and its role in the ministry of the church. Basic counselling skills are practiced in small groups. Emphasis is placed on understanding one's own personal and spiritual growth as a way of better understanding and helping others. Attention given to the integration of psychology and theology.
CM284AA EVANGELISM AND DISCIPLESHIP OF YOUTH
This course develops an understanding of how to reach teenagers with the good news of the gospel, how to encourage them to be mature disciples, and how to train them to minister to others. In other words, this course is all about the great commission, teenagers, and those who seek to influence them Prerequisite: Introduction to Youth Ministry or permission of instructor.
CM286AA CRITICAL ISSUES IN YOUTH MINISTRY II
This course will further augment students' practical learning from their co-op experiences through reflective analysis. Special attention is given to crisis intervention in specific instances, evaluating and steering through job placement opportunities, consideration of experimental models of youth ministry, relational ministry skills and balancing ministry and personal priorities. Prerequisite: Critical Issues in Youth Ministry I, or permission of instructor.
CM323AA INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
This course builds on the work done in the prerequisite courses. It continues the development of skills required in crisis short-term and long-term counselling, and examines specific counselling issues. It makes use of small group role-plays and interviews. Prerequisites: Counselling Skills and Theories of Counselling.
CM333AA HOMILETICS II
The preparation and delivery of different styles and forms of sermons with emphasis on improving one’s language, delivery, developing hermeneutical, homiletical and contextual strategies, and planning a preaching program. Opportunity to present sermons in class for constructive criticism. Prerequisite: Homiletics I
CM391DA URBAN MINISTRY
An urban ministry course which studies the nature of the city as well as the Church's role in an urban environment. Includes topics of evangelism, theology, poverty, community building, and contextualization from an urban perspective.
PS391AA PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY
A guided self- and group- study of the biblical and philosophical foundations of ministry with emphasis upon each student developing a personal and practical philosophy. Students are guided not only to a general philosophy, but also to a specialized understanding relating to their particular program. Applies to each professional studies subdivision.
