Emmanuel Bible College Signs Transfer Agreement with Humber College

Emmanuel Bible College is pleased to announce a negotiated transfer credit agreement between our 3-year B.R.E. Counselling Studies degree program and the Developmental Service Worker Diploma at Humber College. Graduates of the EBC Counselling Degree transferring to Humber can apply to the accelerated DSW program, which they can complete in one year instead of the usual two. This agreement allows students to graduate in four years with a degree and a diploma from two recognized institutions.

EBC & Tom Dow to Celebrate 70 Years in 2010

Many events are scheduled, including a Birthday Party on Graduation Day, Saturday April 24th. Emmanuel Bible College and Dr. Tom Dow, current Interim President and Chancellor, turn 70 in 2010 and we are going to celebrate! Please join us for the following events and projects:

• A special tree planting day on Saturday April 10th when volunteers will help utilize an $18,000 grant from the City of Kitchener to enhance the campus.
• An art sale and fundraiser run by our students called: Lumen Ex Anima on Sunday March 21, 2010, at 7:00pm. All of the art comes from members of our community. Come out and meet some of the artists, enjoy some appetizers and celebrate 70 years of EBC history. $10.00 at the door.
• A fundraising Birthday Dinner and our annual Graduation Ceremony on Saturday April 24th. Everyone is invited! Special attention will be given to the birthday guests (Tom and EBC) and we will also honour Ward Shantz, Willis Hunking and Ed Prosser. These three EBC builders passed away in 2009.
• Homecoming Events for various graduating decades. See online for more information.
• A $70,000 fundraising campaign that includes support for current students and a new scholarship fund in honour of Rev.’s Ward Shantz, Willis Hunking and Ed Prosser.

Walk Thru the Old Testament - Saturday February 6th, 2010.
Have you ever thought that the Old Testament is confusing? Although many know the general chronology of Genesis, it’s hard for most to put together all of the people and events of the entire Old Testament. EBC Expedition Program Now Eligible for OSAP Funding

Emmanuel Bible College is pleased to announce that our four-month discipleship and travel program Expedition has now been approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, so students desiring financial assistance are able to apply for OSAP, and may receive loan and/or grant assistance. For many years the Ontario Student Assistance Program has provided loans to eligible EBC students for most of our programs; now this is extended to include Expedition. Applications to the Expedition program are now being accepted for Fall 2010.

EBC Receives $18,000 City Grant from LEAF Fund

In winter 2009 an application was made to the City of Kitchener’s Local Environmental Action Fund with the goal of improving our campus by adding trees and improving drainage. The city has granted $18,740 for tree planting, and environmentally friendly drainage improvements known as rain gardens and bio-swales. Final details are being confirmed that should see the grant in college hands later this year and a spring tree planting event on April 10th is being planned in conjunction with 70th Anniversary celebrations.

EBC Launches New Website

After many months of preparation, Emmanuel Bible College is pleased to launch our new website. Featuring a brand new look, improved navigation, and more secure event registration and donation features, the new site is sure to please many more users. Additionally EBC has secured a new domain name, emmanuelbiblecollege.ca, which we hope will be easier for users to remember. Please visit anytime and many times!

EBC and Tom Dow 70th Birthday Party & Graduation– Saturday April 24, 2010. Join us for a fundraising birthday dinner party and graduation as we celebrate 70 years of ministry for EBC and for Dr. Tom Dow. Both turn 70 in 2010 and both are worthy of a great party. Emmanuel Bible College Accepts Resignation of President Dr. Derrick Mueller
Emmanuel Bible College Board of Governors has accepted the resignation of
President Dr. Derrick Mueller. The resignation became effective June 21, 2009. The Board wishes Dr. Mueller well in his future endeavours which will include his continuing to pursue his talents as an author, speaker, teacher and consultant. Dr. Mueller has recently opened an art gallery in St. Jacobs Ontario where he exhibits his original artworks. During Dr. Mueller’s six years of leadership the college achieved significant results including a new building, a retired deficit and improved public image.

Emmanuel Bible College Announces Appointment of Dr. Tom Dow as Interim President
Emmanuel Bible College Board of Governors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Thomas Dow as Interim President of the College beginning August 1, 2009. Dr. Dow is Chancellor of the College and past President, having served in that capacity from 1988 until 2001. He has been a member of the teaching faculty since 1965. Dr. Dow has pastored several Evangelical Missionary Churches and authored a book on Job called “When Storms Come”. Tom assumes the role of Interim President of the College during an exciting time in the college’s history. A search committee has been created to begin the search for the next President of the College.

Graduate Course Being Taught at EBC This Fall
EBC is partnering with McMaster Divinity College this fall to offer a graduate level course “Preaching Paul” that can be taken for audit or credit. Classes will take place on the Emmanuel campus in Kitchener, beginning in September. The course is a regular course at McMaster but offered at EBC through MacDiv’s extension education program. Blaze A Trail Raises Over $3000.00
In its inaugural year, the Blaze a Trail Hiking event designed to raise money for student scholarships and bursaries was a great success. Nearly 200 km’s of the Bruce Trail were covered and EBC hopes to generate more interest in the future. Thank you to the many hikers, volunteers and churches who provided support. Funds raised in 2009 go to support the Hugh Hill Student Life Leadership Award.

EBC Now Eligible for "Second Career" Student Funding

Do you know someone who has lost their job? Have they thought about ministry as a new career? Emmanuel Bible College has just received notification from The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities that our one and two year programs “do not require approval under the PCCA, as the programs provides training for work in a religious vocation.” Be sure to visit your local Employment Counsellor after connecting with our Admissions Office for the necessary details.

EBC Among "Canada's Best Christian Workplaces" Again!

EBC is thrilled to be selected as one of 12 finalists for the Best Christian Work Places in Canada. EBC also made this distinguished list in 2007. We praise God for a wonderful group of staff and faculty who love the Lord and love to work at EBC.

Blaze a Trail with Us – Hike to Raise Money for Student Scholarships

On Saturday August 29th, 2009, hikers from across Ontario will attempt a feat never before accomplished. EBC is organizing the first annual Blaze a Trail event where Hikers will meet at one of 9 launch sites from Tobermory to Niagara and each hike a short section of the Bruce Trail. It is hoped that collectively the entire trail will be hiked in one day! Not only will they have fun and get exercise, participants will be raising money by gathering sponsors. EBC Finishes in the Black

EBC is pleased to report that after tremendous support from donors and stronger than anticipated student fee revenue, we’ve posted a modest surplus for our year-ending April 30th 2009. Audited statements are not yet complete, but preliminary estimates are for at least $30,000. Thank you to all who gave sacrificially when only three months ago it looked like we wouldn’t make it. Praise God for the support of churches, individuals and a stronger than anticipated student resident population.
