
Professor Anderson's global vision is communicated with warmth and vitality. It is fitting that her 14 years of missionary service with the Christian and Missionary Alliance were in the Philippines, "where Asia wears a smile." From 1987-2001 she worked in church planting, and then administration and teaching at a Bible College that she and her colleagues set up in Cebu City. She has continuing interests in Cebuano culture, issues of cross-cultural adaptation, and enjoys being a mentor to students. She also credits her time in the Philippines for making her an avid basketball fan and a competitive Scrabble player.
Currently the Director of Leadership Development and Resources for YFC Canada, Dr. Andrews has also held the positions of national training director for YFC, a regional director for YFC, a Campus Life Staff person, a Youth Centre Director, and a church youth director. His professional interests include youth ministry, youth and adult culture, leadership, preaching, and evangelism. When not working, he enjoys soccer, cycling, and other sports, travel, movies, reading, and spending time with his family. Dr. Andrews is married, and has 2 sons.
Carol enjoys both administration and education. She has taught ESL, EFL, and English writing and grammar in many situations. Her passion is for excellence, clarity, and accuracy. She has one husband, two cats, and four adult children. In her spare time, she walks, knits, and reads, not all at the same time.
Janet is an ordained Pastor with the Congregational Christian Churches of Canada. Before coming to EBC, Janet was pastoring the Woodstock Community Church for the last 8 years. Before this, she was on staff at Highlands Youth for Christ for 9 years. She has a real heart for missions and evangelism. Outside of work, you will find her reading, writing, knitting, walking, and enjoying the sunshine.
Dr. Dow has been affiliated with EBC since 1957 when he first came as a 17-year old student. His heart for EBC shines through in conversation with him. He served as pastor to four Evangelical Missionary Church congregations (3 as church plants), for a total of 17 years. He also taught as a faculty member at the United Missionary Theological College in Ilorin, Nigeria. He joined the EBC staff as a full-time instructor in 1965, and served as Academic Dean from 1981-1988, at which time he became President of the College. He has also held the positions of Dean of Men and Dean of Student Life. He stepped down from the Presidency in 2001, but remained on staff as an adjunct professor. His late wife, Carolyn, always stood with him and devoted herself to serving the College as an able and willing volunteer. He has three children and several grandchildren. Dr. Dow (the 'other' Dr. D!) is well-loved by his students, past and present.
Chureb joined us in 1987, ten years after she graduated from EBC. She brings a heart-felt concern for students as well as a capacity for detailed work to her administrative position. She is an accomplished writer, and has had many articles published, as well as a missionary biography of an EBC graduate who died while serving in Nigeria. Chureb attends the New Dundee Baptist church, where her husband Paul is the pastor. They have one grown son in medical school, one amazing daughter-in-law, and now one delightful grandson!
Dr. Peters is an enthusiastic, well-loved professor of Bible. He has served as a Pastor and Teacher since 1984, 10 of those years in Nigeria. He is involved in intentional interim pastoral ministry, and has been involved in several church plants as well. Dr. Peters and his wife Tracy have 4 children. Where he finds spare time we do not know, but in it he enjoys jogging, reading, singing, soccer, and sports chaplaincy.
Dr. Roy worked as an urban planner in the UK before coming to Canada in the mid-1980's. After theological training he served in various academic administrative positions at Ontario Theological Seminary and Ontario Bible College (now Tyndale). Dr. Roy has also worked on church and mission boards. He enjoys soccer, reading, architecture, missions, and preaching. Dr. Roy and his wife, Lyn, have two children. He is currently the Chair of the SIM International Board of Governors and Chair of SIM Canada.
Professor Schuit, formerly a High School Principal and pastor, now speaks in various churches, teaches, and runs a book distribution company along with his wife, Jennifer. They have three grown children.
Before coming to EBC, Jennifer worked as both a Reference and a Children’s Librarian in the public system. Jennifer and her husband Dan have one daughter and attend Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church. When she’s not at the library, Jennifer enjoys reading, scrapbooking and spending time with her family.
Anita has been a part time instructor of Intro to Financial Accounting and Simply Accounting at Conestoga College. She lives in Waterloo with her husband Duane and their two children Ty and Eden. Anita and Duane are actively involved in their church, WMB in marriage ministry and music ministry.
Ron has worked in construction for many years, where he has honed his skills in many areas of maintenance. As well he has experience in grounds keeping and our campus is benefiting from his great wealth of experience.
Jenifer is currently on maternaty leave, Linda Zane will be covering her position during this time.
Jen and her husband Dan serve in youth ministry for the United Brethren Church in Canada. When Jen is not on the road travelling for EBC she enjoys reading, scrapbooking, painting and playing the piano.
Lloyd and his wife Marie are much-respected members of our staff. Lloyd's obvious gifting in counselling and pastoring have been greatly appreciated by many students and staff members. He has served as a pastor, teacher, and business owner. He and Marie have raised four wonderful children, and are now loving grandparents as well.
Marie taught elementary school for 10 years in both public and Christian schools, worked as a cook, and worked at Gifts from the Heart for over 9 years. She worked alongside Lloyd in his pastoral role for 37 years, and has taught ladies' Bible studies.
Tim brings a strong gifting in administration and the ability to pick up tasks and ideas quickly to his multi-hatted position at Emmanuel. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking (hopes to one day complete the Bruce Trail end-to-end), photography, reading, board and card games, and travelling.

Gail was employed in human resources at a local industry before becoming involved in ministry. She worked part-time as a Church Administrator for 14 years and part-time teaching music and computer skills to Grades 3-8 at Christ Lutheran School. Gail has a passion for handbells both ringing and directing. She directs the youth, community handbell choir ‘Synergy’ which has toured in both Canada and the U.S. Gail lives with her husband John and her 5 children in Kitchener in the house in which she grew up. In her spare time, she is an avid reader.
For the last decade Marjorie has sought to inspire students to discover their identity and to find ways to pursue their passions. One of the ways she facilitates this discovery is through community development and individual conversations. At the core of her educational philosophy is the pursuit of knowledge in order to know God the Creator in deeper ways. Prior to coming to Emmanuel Marjorie worked at the University of Sioux Falls, and in the Outtatown Discipleship program at Canadian Mennonite University. She has recently graduated from University of Waterloo with a B.A. in Medieval Studies and is currently at the University of Guelph pursuing her Masters in Medieval Studies.
Marjorie’s interests are diverse encompassing history, language, music, dance and gardening.
Sherry worked at Fleming College for 10 years in various departments including, Admissions, Continuing Education, Student & Health Services and the Learning Resource Centre before beginning full-time ministry as Administrator at Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church in Lindsay. Sherry enjoys reading, travel and times with family and friends.
Mary graduated from EBC and now enjoys spreading the word about EBC in her home state of Michigan. She and her husband Mike own a contracting business, serve their church in music ministry and have a passion for expanding world views and facilitating spiritual growth through mentoring, education and short term mission trips. When she is not working, Mary spends her time chatting with friends, singing and cooking – sometimes all at the same time.
Helen is our warm and friendly receptionist, who moved here from El Salvador. She maintains a positive outlook even on the busiest days, and is always glad to help a student or staff member with a request. She has two children, and enjoys walking and reading.
Born in Manitoba, Tracy worked for Campus Crusade for Christ, spent ten years in Nigeria with her husband, Dr. Peters, and was Registrar for 4 of those 10 years. She enjoys playing sports and scrapbooking. Tracy and Dr. Olu have four wonderful children.
Mark comes to Emmanuel after 19 years in full-time ministry as a Pastor for the Brethren in Christ Church, serving in congregations in Ontario and Pennsylvania. Mark has a deep passion for worship and teaching, and loves to help individuals discover and develop their God-given passions and strengths for ministry. Mark is married to another EBC grad, Ruth Anne (Grieve) Thornton, and has two fantastic children. In his free time, Mark enjoys music, reading, movies and playing golf.
