Athletics and Recreation

Athletics and Recreation at Emmanuel Bible College seeks to provide student athletes with a positive, challenging, competitive and fair experience that emphasizes the principles of personal integrity, sportsmanship, wellness and fulfilment of individual potential. "Wildcats" Athletics encourages leadership development through the pursuit of excellence and community building while promoting a positive ethos on the Emmanuel campus.

Team Sports

Emmanuel is not part of any formal sports leagues.

There are a number of local competitive sports leagues that students are encouraged to investigate if interested.

Recreational Options

In lieu of Competitive options, there are a number of alternative activities for students to participate in. These are open to all students, regardless of age, gender, resident or commuter status, and sometimes even the staff and faculty join in the fun. Below is just a sample of what has been offered in the past. More details will be available at Registration in the Fall.

Royal Cup

Imagine 50-100 people on a soccer field, all trying to score a goal in order to keep the pride of their fellow students intact. Each September, during MEGA weekend, the Royal Cup is held at Idlewood Park, just down the street from EBC. This contest pits the Returning Students against the First Year Students in a battle for the Spectacular (duct-tape covered) Royal Cup. Many tactics are used (including the Flying V) in order to win the game, and the respect of the school. After the match, the Royal Cup Banquet is held in the Campus Centre, where the King, Queen, Prince, and Princess of the Royal Cup are crowned, along with various other prizes.

Indoor Soccer

Each week for the past two years, Emmanuel and Heritage have participated in recreational indoor soccer, held once a week at the Heritage Gym. For more information, contact the Recreational Committee Head on Student Council.

Ball Hockey

Students at Emmanuel have been very active in ball hockey on a regular basis on "The Pad" at EBC. In recent years, this has become a highly-attended event that has happened multiple times per week.

Curling

Two times yearly, EBC hosts "Wildcats With Brooms", a curling bonspiel at the Ayr Curling Club, about 20 minutes from EBC. Students with all levels of experience are welcome to participate. Details are usually announced mid-September for the Fall bonspiel and mid-January for the Spring bonspiel.

Outdoors Club

Started in September, 2008, the EBC Outdoors / Photography Club has ventured into various spots around Southern Ontario approximately one time per month during the school year. Locations have included Rockwood, Limehouse, Rattlesnake Point, Crawford Lake, and Hilton Falls Conservation Areas, a tour of some waterfalls near Hamilton, and a 10km hike along the Bruce Trail near Milton. All are welcome to come along and see some aspects of nature that you may not have seen before.

Along with these activities, EBC is located close to walking trails, Chicopee Ski Hill and Tube Park, bike trails, and multiple parks.
