Lakeshore Missionary Church (North Bay, Ontario) Summer Student Ministry Experience
Duration: July and August 2024
Start date: To be determined with the candidate and some flexibility.

Title: Summer Family Ministries Student Intern (We may have an opening for 3 people)
Age: 16 to 25

Compensation: $17.00 (30 hours a week). Please note that compensation is based on getting approval for the Canadian Summer Student Grant program.  If this does not come through, we will not be able to pay.

Reports to: Lead Pastor or Ministry Council

Breakdown of Hours:
Given the nature of the work, hours will vary and will include evening and weekend hours.  Thus we will work together with individuals to ensure proper on and off time. We will collaborate with the intern to establish hours, but flexibility is essential.

Goal:  The Lakeshore Missionary Church Summer Internship aims to equip and empower individuals for spiritual and leadership growth in the values of Christ. The program has three primary goals:

Provide Space for Development:

  • Foster character, spiritual, and leadership development.
  • Guide interns in setting personal growth goals.

Deepen Understanding:

  • Help interns to deepen their understanding of self and Jesus.

Church Community Exposure:

  • Expose interns to the behind-the-scenes workings of a church Community and enhance the ministry of Lakeshore Church,

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Set personal goals and growth areas with guidance.
  • Assist in planning and organizing children’s and other Church events.
  • Support Children’s volunteers in their various programs (for example, Children camps at Lakeshore Church and potentially supporting other local churches, Sunday morning, and other family activities)
  • An option to accompany and assist staff in visitation, caregiving and discipleship to grow in people and discipleship skills.
  • Plan and assist in running other programs based on individual gifting.
  • Assist or run Sunday morning children’s programs.
  • Assist with social media or develop skills in this area.
  • Weekly meetings with the Lead Pastor for mentoring, feedback, and leadership development.
  • Potential opportunity to serve at a summer camp or another church.
  • Develop responsibilities based on individual skill sets.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Reading and Material Assignment may be assigned.
  • Flexibility and Collaboration: This is a flexible position that adapts to the intern’s skills and goals, requiring adaptability and collaboration from the intern.
