Small but growing church in an expanding community

I. Introduction
Shoreline recently celebrated 51 years of ministry in the beautiful beach town of Port
Elgin. With approximate 80-90 adults and 25-35 children in attendance weekly, God has been
drawing numerous new families to worship together on Sunday mornings. We are in the midst
of an exciting season of growth with a thriving children’s ministry and we are excited to partner
with an intern through a recognized College and Seminary who desires to join with us in our
calling to lead people towards life in Jesus Christ.
II. Role Overview
The primary role of the Youth and Children Pastoral Intern will be to learn and
develop into an equipped spiritual leader who is led by the Holy Spirit to effectively serve Jesus
and his church. The intern will gain experience in a range of ministry opportunities while
serving the church, giving particular focus to the spiritual health of the children, youth, and
supporting volunteers. The lead pastor will provide oversight and support to the intern.
III. Responsibilities
a. Support and provide leadership to the children and youth ministries. This will include
teaching, recruiting volunteers, and training.
b. Preach four to six times each year.
c. Disciple and lead a small group (example: youth boys).
d. Engage in regular teaching experiences (1-4 times/month) (i.e. Sunday school, youth,
prayer times, care home, etc.).
e. Oversee 4 special projects over two years (example: Family Movie Night).
f. Assist in administrative support where necessary.
g. Learn through being involved in various visitation opportunities (hospital, shut-ins, etc.).
h. Gain experience attending and leading applicable meetings (Board meetings, protection
plan, etc.).
i. Experience being involved in a short-term mission opportunity.
j. Assist lead pastor in organizing and leading ministries as needed (ex. outreach,
fellowship times).
IV. Expectations
a. Must be successfully screened through the “Protection Plan” requirements.
b. Complete College/Seminary education as scheduled.
c. Meet weekly with lead pastor for input, encouragement, and progress evaluation.
d. Submit to Shoreline’s Statement of Faith.
V. Character and Traits

b. Relational, friendly, and able to work independently or within a team.
c. A deep commitment to Christ and His gospel with a desire for others to know Him.
d. Actively living in pursuit of righteousness and integrity (2 Tim 2:22).
e. Embodies and pursuing the leadership characteristics of 1 Timothy 3:2-13.
VI. Employment Details
a. Average of 30 hours per week.
b. $1700 per month and up to $5000 annually for tuition
