Lead Pastor

Mayerthorpe Baptist Church is seeking a Pastor to lead and serve in our church. A person who is a passionate follower of Jesus and engages in an active personal prayer life. A Lead Pastor who is comfortable with living and working in a rural environment. A pastor who is family oriented and personable.

We are looking for a pastor who can align with our vision statement which is: Following Jesus, Loving People, Building a better world. As Lead Pastor you must be able to lead with moral courage, honesty, transparency, and integrity such that people see and are motivated by your example. The Lead Pastor will be committed to faithfully preaching the word of God, be comfortable with shepherding, overseeing, and discipling all demographics, and ensuring the administrative needs of our rural church are met.

Mayerthorpe Baptist Church has a population of 75-100 members and adherents. We have good children’s teaching, a healthy youth program and a faithful core of seniors. We are committed to supporting the pastor through prayer and practical sustenance, thus enabling him to perform his ministry calling with joy. MBC has a solid core of leadership with engaged elders and a supportive congregation with solid ongoing ministry in our community. We have an excellent facility that provides a comfortable workplace with ample room to grow.

Responsibilities: Lead Pastor.

The Lead Pastor will minister to and provide pastoral services to the members and adherents of Mayerthorpe Baptist Church, as well as the greater community of Mayerthorpe. The Lead Pastor will shepherd and coach the elders, the Ministry Team personnel and church lay leaders to fulfill the Vision of “Following Jesus, Loving People, Building a Better World”.

Responsibilities:

1. Will faithfully minister God’s Word to those in our congregation and community, through preaching, teaching and sharing as opportunities arise. Further, the Pastor will encourage and evaluate the other members of the preaching team for their mutual edification and benefit for the Church.
2. Will prioritize leadership development in all ministries at MBC.
3. Will prioritize visitation of congregational members and adherents.
4. Will ensure that the administrative needs of MBC are met on a weekly basis.
5. Will chair the Ministry Team of MBC, further the pastor will provide encouragement and guidance to the teams membership.
6. Will challenge the congregation of MBC to be involved in Evangelism both personally as well as corporately.
7. Will oversee the Small Group Ministry of MBC.
8. Will maintain regular communication with our global partners (denominational officials, other church leaders, evangelistic workers) for the purpose of encouragement and prayer support. Will provide the congregation with information about our partners as appropriate.
9. The Pastor will strive to enhance the gifts and abilities that God has given him by attending training sessions, being involved in seminars or other furthering educational opportunities.
10. Will fulfill other Pastoral Responsibilities as needed, such as child dedications, weddings, funerals, baptism, communion, and other duties as decided upon by the Elders.
11. Will serve on the Elders Board of MBC.
12. Will regularly pray for the ministries and people of MBC as well as the community of Mayerthorpe.
13. Will manage and mentor ministry staff as directed by the Board of Elders.
Accountability:

This permanent and full-time position is solely responsible to the Elders Board of MBC under their governance policies.

Limitations:

This position is limited only by the parameters of the Statement of Faith, Vision, Values, Ethics and governance documents of MBC.
